General Assistance Medical Care Weekly Report

General Assistance Medical Care is a state only program to provide coverage for poor adults without children. To qualify for regular GAMC, your income must be less than 75 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines or $8,123 per year. The vast majority of these enrollees have income far less than that. Ninety two percent of people enrolled in regular GAMC have incomes less than 25% of Federal Poverty Guidelines or $2,708 per year.1

Story of the week: Bradley, age 274
Bradley, a construction worker, was living with family members when he fell and fractured his ankle. His hospital bills are already more than $28,000 and he'll need surgery and other care to recover. He can't work and is applying for GAMC.
