Regions Hospital Foundation fundraiser brings in almost $600,000 for pediatric trauma center
Event features state's longest running live wine auction
October 28, 2009
St. Paul, Minn. -- As it has for the last 20 years, the Regions Hospital Foundation hosted its Wine Auction fundraiser this past weekend, with this year's event bringing in more than $590,000 for Regions' Level I Pediatric Trauma Center. The center is the first and only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center in Minnesota, and the first in the upper Midwest.
The Level I Trauma Center for Children, as officially unveiled at the Wine Auction, continues the longstanding partnership between Regions Hospital and Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare. The Level I Trauma Center for Children received its designation from the American College of Surgeons in June. The funds from the event will be used for injury prevention, research and teaching the community and providers about trauma care for our pediatric population.
"The certification as a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center assures that critically injured children will have faster access to all of the specialized trauma care they might need in one hospital," said Brad Feltis, MD, pediatric trauma medical director for the Level I Trauma Center for Children.
More than 900 people attended the Wine Auction, which featured wine tasting along with Minnesota's first and longest-running live wine auction. The auction has raised more than $5 million for Regions Hospital programs and services over the years.
The fundraiser is just one example of HealthPartners commitment to its community. Last year, employees at HealthPartners and Regions Hospital donated more than $1 million to charitable community organizations, benefiting more than 300 local charities.
