HealthPartners breaks ground on new neuroscience center
New building will bring programs for injuries and diseases involving the brain, spine, nerves and muscles together under one roof.
ST. PAUL, Minn. — July 8, 2015 — HealthPartners will begin construction of a new, 130,000 square-foot neuroscience center in St. Paul. The facility will be the largest free-standing neuroscience center in the Upper Midwest and one of only a few in the country.
The new building will establish a regional destination for neuroscience care and research, bringing together nationally recognized programs for stroke, spine care, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, brain and spine tumors and other neurological disorders.
Neurological illnesses such as stroke and Alzheimer’s disease are among the leading causes of death in the U.S. As part of an integrated health care organization with hospitals, clinics, a health plan, research, education and some of the region’s top neuroscience experts, HealthPartners Neuroscience Center will be uniquely positioned to provide high-quality, convenient and coordinated care to patients and their families.
Highlights of HealthPartners Neuroscience Center include:
- A four story, 130,000 square-foot, free-standing building located near 35E and Phalen Boulevard, less than one mile from Regions Hospital
- Patient and family-centered design
- On site lab, x-ray and MRI
- Dedicated space for neurological rehabilitation, including physical, occupational, speech and aquatic therapy
- Access to research and clinical trials
Preliminary site work began in June and construction should be completed by early 2017. The building was designed by BWBR Architects. Kraus Anderson is the contractor.
