HealthPartners named 2014 'Most Wired'
'Most Wired' health systems and hospitals connect providers and patients through IT
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — July 21, 2014 — Hospitals & Health Networks magazine has named HealthPartners among the 2014 Most Wired health care organizations in the country. The honor recognizes effective use of electronic medical records and technology at five HealthPartners hospitals (Amery Regional Medical Center, Hudson Hospital & Clinic, Lakeview Hospital, Regions Hospital and Westfields Hospital & Clinics) and at HealthPartners clinics which includes Stillwater Medical Group clinics.
The 16th annual Health Care’s Most Wired Survey, conducted by Hospitals & Health Networks, asked hospitals and health systems nationwide to answer questions regarding their IT initiatives. Respondents completed 680 surveys, representing 1,900 hospitals, or more than 30 percent of all U.S. hospitals.
This distinction recognizes health systems and hospitals that have made tremendous gains by using information technology (IT) to reduce the likelihood of medical errors. Organizations must meet a set of rigorous criteria across four operational categories including infrastructure, business and administrative management, clinical quality and safety and clinical integration.
“Health care systems across the country are moving to more integrated and patient-centered care,” said Kim LaReau, vice president of care delivery information systems, HealthPartners. “This transition has changed the way we approach information technology, and being recognized as a Most Wired organization reflects the success we’ve had with our approach.”
This is the fifth year in a row that HealthPartners has been named ‘Most Wired.’ HealthPartners was an early adopter of electronic medical records and has been building upon this technology for more than 15 years.
