HealthPartners Brings Saint Paul Public Library Bookmobile to Clinics this August
Partnership helps to support Children's Health Initiative
Saint Paul, Minn. – August 4, 2015 – HealthPartners and Saint Paul Public Library are making it easier for kids to complete their summer reading lists, as the Saint Paul Public Library’s Bookmobile will be visiting HealthPartners clinics all month long.
From August 11 through September 1, the Bookmobile will stop at a different HealthPartners clinic each Tuesday from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., allowing families to sign up for library cards and check out reading materials. The events will also feature a morning full of activities, including story time readings, games, coloring and more. Event locations will include:
- August 11: HealthPartners Como Clinic (2500 Como Ave., St. Paul)
- August 18: HealthPartners Midway Clinic (451 N. Dunlap St., St. Paul)
- August 25: HealthPartners Maplewood Clinic (2165 White Bear Ave. N., Maplewood)
- September 1: HealthPartners Saint Paul Clinic (205 S. Wabasha St., St. Paul)
A new sponsorship by HealthPartners supports the Bookmobile’s new look and its services to the community. “We’re committed to investing in children,” said Donna Zimmerman, senior vice president of government and community relations at HealthPartners. “As part of our Children’s Health Initiative we are able to focus on the importance of reading, talking and singing to children, which contributes to that child’s success in school and long-term health. By supporting the Saint Paul Public Library’s Bookmobile, we have the opportunity to reach more children in the community, and give them a head-start towards future success.”
Saint Paul Public Library’s Bookmobile travels throughout the city to deliver library services and collections to communities that may otherwise be unable to access the library. The Bookmobile provides loans of all types of materials, reference assistance, library card registration, and Internet access. The Bookmobile serves about 80 community partners, including housing communities for older and/or disabled adults, after-school partners, and organizations serving children and families. In 2014, the Bookmobile had over 142,000 visits and circulated more than 120,000 items.
