HealthPartners names James Lyons as president of Hutchinson Health
March, 18, 2019 – MINNEAPOLIS – HealthPartners today announced that James Lyons has been named president of Hutchinson Health. Lyons, who has been with Hutchinson Health since 1996, brings deep experience in hospital and clinic leadership.
Lyons has served in multiple roles in Hutchinson Health, most recently as the chief of clinic operations. In these roles, he has worked to integrate Hutchinson Health’s hospital and medical group, develop a culture of quality improvement and build strong partnerships in the community.
“We are excited for Jim to step into this new role,” said Andrea Walsh, president and CEO, HealthPartners. “In his 20-plus years at Hutchinson Health, Jim has been committed to improving the health and quality of life for the people of Hutchinson and the surrounding communities. He’s a great addition to a team of 26,000 colleagues working together to make care simpler and more affordable.”
Lyons is a past board member for the Institute for Clinical Systems Improvement and continues to serve as a member of their audit and finance committee. He also spent eight years as a steering committee member for Heart of Hutch and has been a board member and Vice Chair of the I.J. Burich Family Foundation for the past 10 years.
Lyons will begin his new role on April 12. He replaces Dr. Steve Mulder, who announced his retirement from the position last August after more than 24 years with the organization, including the last 10 years as president and CEO.
