HealthPartners provides more than $40 million in COVID-19 pandemic premium credits
HealthPartners latest effort to support physical and financial well-being
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – HealthPartners today announced that it is providing premium credits totaling more than $40 million to many of its individual commercial insurance purchasers and fully-insured employer group purchasers. The credit will be applied to December premiums.
“Throughout the pandemic, we’ve been focused on supporting the health and well-being of our patients, members and the community,” said Andrea Walsh, president and CEO, HealthPartners. “This step will hopefully help offset some of the financial burden our members and employer partners are experiencing.”
The premium credit is HealthPartners’ latest effort to ensure that care remains accessible and affordable during the COVID-19 pandemic. Other ongoing efforts include:
- Waiving costs related to COVID-19 testing and treatment: Through the public health emergency, HealthPartners is providing full coverage of COVID-related testing and treatment without cost sharing.
- Waiving Medicare member cost-sharing for primary care and behavioral health visits: Through the end of the year, HealthPartners has waived cost-sharing for Medicare members’ in-person, phone and video primary care and behavioral health visits, including visits for substance abuse when services provided are in-network.
- Expanded virtual care: Added virtual care options for patients and members, and started providing all HealthPartners plan members with virtual and telephonic care through HealthPartners employee assistance and case management programs.
- Enhanced mental health resources: Offering free access to digital well-being and resilience resources to all health plan members, supporting their physical and behavioral health and resilience through the end of the year.
