National Committee for Quality Assurance recognizes private (commercial) and Medicare health plans for exceptional care and member satisfaction
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — HealthPartners is the top-rated private (commercial) health plan in Minnesota, and one of the highest-rated health plans in the nation, with a rating of 4.5 out of 5, according to the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).* In addition, HealthPartners Freedom ® (Cost) plan was recognized by NCQA as the top-rated Medicare plan in the state with a rating of 5 out of 5 for 2015–2016.**
"These ratings serve as a reflection of the work we're doing as a health plan and a care system to improve health and well-being for our members, patients and community," says Mary Brainerd, president and chief executive officer. "It’s a privilege to be recognized for those efforts."
NCQA health plan ratings are calculated using a standard set of criteria, which include clinical performance, member satisfaction and accreditation standards. Health prevention and treatment measures make up 60 percent of a plan’s total score, consumer satisfaction represents 25 percent, while NCQA accreditation accounts for the remaining 15 percent.
Ratings are publically reported and can be used by consumers to compare health plans based on clinical quality, effectiveness and customer service. To learn more, or to see the complete NCQA 2015–2016 ratings, visit healthinsuranceratings.ncqa.org.
