What is text messaging?
Because texting is a convenient way of communicating short messages, HealthPartners lets you choose to receive certain messages from HealthPartners by text. These messages may include reminders of an upcoming appointment, prescription refill, or tips and advice on good health and well-being.
You may opt into receiving texts by checking the appropriate box in the Account Settings area of HealthPartners.com or at any one of our medical or dental clinics. You can change your preferences any time you want. You are not required to receive text messages from HealthPartners.
If you give us a mobile phone number HealthPartners will send the texts to the mobile phone number that you provided. Please remember to update your HealthPartners.com account settings if you change your mobile phone number.
This notice applies only to texts sent to you through your HealthPartners.com account.
Are text messages secure?
Despite any security procedure and methods your wireless carrier, they may not prevent someone from intercepting your message. Therefore a text message is not considered 100% secure.
For this reason, HealthPartners will take care to not send you text messages that contain any unnecessary or sensitive personal information. Nevertheless, because of the risk that a text message, even with non-sensitive information, could be intercepted, you have the choice whether to receive text messages from HealthPartners or not.
A message addressed to your mobile phone number could be read by anyone who has access to that device. Some people have their phone set to have a text message appear on the screen even if the phone is locked. This may let someone else read the text message. You can change your phone settings to prevent this, if you want.
What does it cost?
The cost of texting is determined by the plan you have with your wireless carrier. HealthPartners does not charge anything for the texting service, however.
Are there other rules about texting I should know about?
HealthPartners Website terms of use and its Website privacy policy, which you have already agreed to if you registered with HealthPartners.com, apply to your participation in the HealthPartners texting program.
