Research and education together
HealthPartners Institute is part of HealthPartners, the largest consumer-governed, nonprofit health care organization in the nation with a mission to improve health and well-being in partnership with our members, patients and community. We support this mission through research and education – advancing care delivery and public health around the globe. By generating critical insights and preparing the next generation of health care workers, we make health and health care better.
What we do
We conduct hundreds of research studies each year to advance treatment, care and systems to improve lives and share findings across the world. We are active in health services, survey-based, behavioral intervention, clinical and basic science research. We are a leader and participant in 14 national research networks that include other large health care systems.
We support the clinical learning environment at HealthPartners by providing accreditation, resources and support for the training of many health professions. We work with program leaders, clinician educators and community schools to educate residents, fellows, medical students and advanced practice clinician students. Our programs offer students experiences in a variety of areas in outpatient and inpatient settings.
What sets us apart
We are research and education together within an organization that includes hospitals, clinics and a health plan. HealthPartners serves more than 1.2 million patients and 1.8 million health plan members. This integration strengthens our ability to discover and develop evidence-based solutions and translate them into practice. This synergy allows us to influence health policy on a local, regional and national scale. We are nationally known for our impact on health and well-being and are committed to making good happen in our community and beyond.
We also support organizational goals around diversity, equity and inclusion. Research is a valuable tool for improving health equity. The knowledge gained through our studies can impact patient care and address societal gaps. Our education initiatives help current and future clinicians understand health equity and the significant impact it has on health.
Our leadership
The varied backgrounds and experience of Institute leaders creates a diverse and dedicated team. They work closely with HealthPartners colleagues and our board of directors. They also connect with research and education experts from around the world. Our leaders serve on many boards, committees, advisory panels and think tanks to share and to learn. Our board of directors brings a broad range of expertise to the Institute. They represent business and nonprofit organizations within our community along with health care, insurance, quality, research and education.
