Advanced Practice Educational eXperience (APEX)
This innovative, longitudinal training model ensures students train at dedicated training centers where preceptors have the passion, skills and time to train among inter-professional teams enacting best practices with the goal of a sustainable model for the future.
Why we’re doing this
Historically, training has been accommodated based on past patterns. The increasing demand for clinical experiences has resulted in an unsustainable mismatch for clinical rotation requests and HealthPartners’ capacity. We believe that with collaborative school partners we can leverage the strength of our clinical teams to design a more streamlined, coordinated, quality clinical experience for students.
Benefits
- Variety of clinical settings for students to gain experience
- High quality tailored orientation and ongoing support will prepare students
- Continuity will allow students to have an optimal learning experience where they add increasing value to their host site over time
- System-wide support and increased efficiencies to reduce administrative burden
