Overview/research interests: Principal investigator on 22 National Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute (NCI) and other agency-sponsored research grants for past 28 years. Published 160 scholarly works and served on numerous NCI study sections for the past 25 years. Manuscript reviewer for 18 journals and designated one of “15 Top Minnesota Physician Researchers” in 1998 and one of “100 Most Influential Health Care Leaders in Minnesota” in 2012. Interests include pain management, patient-reported outcomes in practice, measurement of health-related quality of life, use of opioids in primary care, cancer prevention in primary care, implementation and evaluation of clinical decision support and cancer clinical trials.
