Get appointed to bring our award-winning health insurance plans to your clients

For decades, we’ve worked with established health insurance brokers and consultants from around the upper Midwest and across the country – providing trusted solutions to the individuals and organizations they serve. By partnering with us, you’ll receive the information, analysis and materials you need to confidently present our medical and dental insurance plans to your clients. We also provide continuous, broker-centered support along with competitive, timely commissions.

We want our solutions to help contribute to your success and growth. Here’s how to get started with us.

How to get appointed

We’re always looking to create new partnerships with established brokers and consultants, taking pride in being represented by those who are among the best in the markets we serve. We’re especially interested in working with those who have a physical presence in our six-state region of Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa and Illinois.

We (and our affiliate companies) have the sole authority to extend broker and consultant agreements – we establish our relationships through direct appointments, and we regular review new requests on a case-by-case basis.

Step 1: Send us an email

The first step is to express your interest by sending us an email. Once we receive it, we’ll get back to you in a few business days.

Step 2: Complete our questionnaire and return required documentation

After we receive your email, we’ll send you a pre-appointment questionnaire asking you about your background, qualifications, current business, marketing methods, future goals and more.

Complete and return this pre-appointment questionnaire along with current copies of:

  • Your agency license
  • Broker licenses for the states where you’d like to represent HealthPartners
  • Your errors and omissions (E&O) insurance coverage

Step 3: Stand by while we review your information

We’ll review your pre-appointment questionnaire and documentation as soon as they arrive. During this review time, here are some things to know:

  • The review process usually takes around 30 days. Sometimes it can take a little longer, but we’ll do our best to respond as quickly as possible.
  • While under review, you’re not authorized to present, market, discuss or in any other way represent our products or services – you’ll only be able to do so the month after a broker agreement is finalized with us.

Step 4: Get a criminal background check

If we approve your application, we’ll send you the forms we need to complete a criminal background check. Just fill them out and return them to us.

Step 5: Sign and return our brokerage firm agreement

Finally, once we receive confirmation that you’ve passed your background check, we’ll send you a brokerage firm agreement. Sign it and return it with your W-9 form and bank information for direct deposits.

After we get these back, you’re officially appointed with us. Congratulations!

Broker onboarding and renewal

Once you’re appointed with us, we’ll send you the information you need to access our systems, including your personal online broker account. Your broker account features:

  • Convenient client management tools
  • Our comprehensive plan library
  • An extensive selection of ready-to-use marketing materials
  • And much more

We’ll also connect you with a member of our sales team – someone who will help with support and guidance for our products and services. Your sales team representative can also help you with additional onboarding, resources, and connections to meetings and forums so you can stay up to date with our plans and industry news.

And when it comes to renewals, you won’t ever need to reapply since our appointments are permanent. All we’ll need are your updated licenses and E&O coverage as they expire (but don’t worry – we’ll remind you in advance).
